We know we have the skill and capability, we just need a little more consistency and luck throughout the season, we have a great set of boys, working well as a unit and the award winners below signify how certain individuals have progressed this season. I appreciate your support, the commitment of both parents and the boys, and we can look forward to next season with great optimism.
CLUB PERSON OF THE YEAR – CONNOR McANDREWS
A person who is at training week in, week out, Connor listens to what he is told and at least 5 times this season his goals from outside the box, two from Corners and 2 from the halfway line have saved Stoke Hill Juniors from an otherwise losing position. A great tackler and possessor of a lovely right foot, without doubt the strongest shot at the club, he also has superb dribbling skills. This award goes to Connor McAndrews for his all round commitment and ability to inspire his team mates, he never gives up and his stamina is legendary.
MOST IMPROVED PLAYER – CONNOR HEPBURN
An individual who since taking the role of Goalkeeper at the start of the season has grown rapidly into a very reliable shot stopper. He has grown the respect enormously from the boys in front of him, his fearless attitude and finger tip saves at times have been brilliant. Connor came of age against Culm United and Moors Youth in March when his positional play and saves including one memorable cat like tip over the bar ensured the team won. The biggest compliment was how the parents remarked on his braveness and improvement. The deserved winner for Most improved player of the season goes to Connor Hepburn.
MANAGERS PLAYER OF THE SEASON – HARRY TAYLOR
A deserved award for a boy with great stamina and drive, a superb left foot and close dribbling skills which allow him to drift at ease past defenders. Harry has scored a number of key goals this season and also possesses great heading ability, he takes a tackle form the opposition and gets up, he also likes to give a tackle and subsequently pleads his innocence. Most importantly though he is a pivotal part of the team being our sole left sided player working courageously for the team. The award voted for by management for his role for Stoke Hill U10 and goes to Harry Taylor.
EYL PLAYER OF THE SEASON – ETHAN FLANAGAN
A player who was given a central midfield role and the skipper’s armband at the start of the season. Ethan has great defensive qualities with a strong ability to head the ball but also very strong attacking skills with close dribbling and abilities to drift past opposition players. Possessing a powerful right foot and leading goal scorer for the season with 30 goals, Stoke Hill Juniors just seem to tick into place when he is playing for us. The deserved winner for all round consistency as Exeter Youth League Player of the season is Ethan Flanagan.
SUPPORTERS PLAYER OF THE SEASON – SAM CREES
A person who is dependable, reliable, who has really settled into the team at the back end of last season and has not looked back since. Sam is able to play on the right or the left, a great tackler and distributer of the ball and scorer of some key goals with some telling runs deep in defence. This award at our age group is voted for by the parents and Sam should take great pride that the supporters ( Parents ) have seen how he has developed as a player and a pivotal person within the team. The Winner of this award as Supporters Player of the season is Sam Crees.
