Match Reports
Stoke Hill Rangers U12 0 v 0 Sidmouth Warriors U12
Both sides started briskly, with attacking obviously on the mind of both managers. This was not your normal boring 0-0 draw but a very entertaining game that either side could have snatched. With Sidmouth and Rangers both having several efforts cleared off the line.Rangers should have opened the scoring when Man of the Match Krystian Struminski was put clean through only to be denied by an inform Sidmouth keeper, but this was to be the story at both ends. An excellent game played in the right spirit.
Man of the Match - Krystian Struminski
St Martins 0 V 1 Stoke Hill Rangers
Stoke Hill got off to a great start in this game with a superbly taken goal from John-Morgan Ross, his first of the season coming after only 5 minutes. After initial pressure by St Martins, the ball was played out to the left wing where John-Morgan took it in his stride and unleashed a left foot from outside the area that left the St Martins Keeper reaching for thin air. The game then was end to end as both sides looked for the net and only some fine defending and excellent goalkeeping from both sides, saw the first half finish with only the single goal.
The second half again threw up some excellent play by both teams. It seemed that St Martins were thrown a life line when they had a player up-ended in the Rangers box, only to see the spot kick saved by Joseph Ware in goal for Rangers and it was Ware again who came to the Rangers rescue when a St Martin's player shot across the goal only to see it saved by the diving Ware with what could only have been described as the mud on the fingertips of his gloves. Both sides again came close, but it was the Ranger's Boy's that hung on for a very hard fought win. St Martins are a very good side and their league position does not reflect their hard work and positive attitude, it was enjoyable playing against them.
Man of the Match - Joseph Ware
Crediton Youth 1 v 5 Stoke Hill Rangers
Rangers started slowly and were punished early on with a well taken goal by Crediton, this however woke up the Rangers Boys and from that point never looked in danger of conceding anymore. Rangers kept their cool and continued to press and were unlucky to go in at half time 1-0 down after after 6 or 7 good chances. In the second half Rangers showed their class and goals from Aidan King(2), Rueben Alabaidi, Piotr Czaja and an own goal sealed a very convincing, and well deserved win. Man of the Match - The whole Rangers Team for a superb performance.
Stoke Hill Rangers 1 V 1 Tedburn Panthers
Both sides were intent from the off not to lose this game, and throughout much of the first half it was the defences of either team that were under most pressure. The first half ended in a very intense 0-0. The second half was as fiercely fought with Tedburn taking the lead through a well worked move that left the Rangers keeper stranded. Rangers kept on the pressure and were eventually rewarded with a penalty for a blatant handball directly in front bof the referee. Aidan King stepped up and smashed the ball into the top left corner, 1-1 game on! Both sides could have had a winner but the game finished with a very fair 1 - 1 result. Man of the Match - Tom Ogg
Sidmouth Warriors 1 v 4 Stoke Hill Rangers
It took 20 minutes for Rangers to take a grip on this game after early pressure from Sidmouth. Rueben Alabaidi hit first for Rangers after some good work down the right by Luke Dunstan. Rangers 2nd was finished by Timon Brown after a 5 touch move from a goal kick. Sidmouth pulled 1 back soon after before Krystian Struminksi scored a 3rd for Rangers. Brown added a 4th from the penalty spot to round off a great day for Rangers. Man of The Match - Olek Nicopulos.
Stoke Hill Rangers 2 v 0 Brixington
A tough opening match of the season for Rangers, but they came through with Aidan King "Crowning" a fine win with both goals. All the Rangers players stuck to their task and were superb, both in defence and attack. They didn't have it all their own way and at times were pressured by the Brixington attack, albeit but for some strong defending and outstanding goalkeeping could have had a couple themselves. Man of the Match Ethan Matthews
